SOU volleyball cruises to 11th straight win

Southern Oregon's 11th consecutive win was never in jeopardy on Thursday night against Walla Walla (Wash.) at Lithia Motors Pavilion, the Raiders' first Cascade Conference match on their new home floor.

SOU (11-0), which moved up to No. 10 in Tuesday's latest NAIA Top 25, needed 54 minutes to wrap up a 25-9, 25-11, 25-7 decision and improve to 4-0 in CCC play. The Raiders put forth their most efficient attack of the season at a .438 average and forced the Wolves (0-4, 0-3) into a negative-.114 clip with nine blocks.

Four Raiders had at least five kills, all on 15 of fewer swings: Elliott Cook (9), Makayla Hoyt (8), Taylor Ristvedt (6) and Nila Lukens (5). Hoyt assisted five blocks and had one to herself, Cook was in on three and Ristvedt had two.

The sweep was the Raiders' ninth of the season. They trailed only at 1-0 in the third set, running off 10 straight points in the first, 10 straight in the second, nine straight in the third and six straight to finish the match.

Kiley Barcroft and Myla Norvell recorded three aces apiece, and Barcroft pulled in a match high 12 digs. Emma Ryan had two aces and was at service during both 10-0 runs.

Natalie James led SOU with 19 assists and Hannah Bogatin had 10, helping the team to 34 kills with only six errors.

The Raiders have the weekend off before traveling Tuesday to Oregon Tech. They'll return home Sept. 14-15 to face Warner Pacific and Multnomah.
