Christmas, among other things, means lots of gift-giving and good-work doing. This year shoppers in Ashland can do a bit of both at the same time by taking part in a new program organized by the Ashland Chamber of Commerce. During three "Give Back Wednesdays," a portion of all purchases at participating Ashland retailers goes to support local nonprofit organizations.
On Wednesday, Nov. 30, proceeds go to the Ashland Community Hospital Foundation; on Dec. 7, to the Ashland Emergency Food Bank; and on Dec. 14, to the Ashland Schools Foundation.
Participating businesses are: Paddington Station, Paddington Jewel Box, Inspired by Oregon, The Web-sters, Small Change, The Spice & Tea Exchange, FlowerTyme, Manzanita on Main, Travel Essentials, Crown Jewel, The Ashland Fly Shop and Cafe 116.
The Chamber of Commerce is also encouraging Ashlanders to shop local, aiding not only local merchants but also the local economy, as local dollars circulate back through the local economy, including community groups supported by the Ashland business community.
A "Holiday Gift Guide" printed and distributed by the chamber offers information about events, specials, discounts and promotions. The free guides are available at the chamber office, plus at these retailers: Paddington Station, Paddington Jewel Box, Inspired by Oregon, Web-sters, Small change, FlowerTyme, Manzanita on Main, Travel Essentials, Crown Jewel, and The Ashland Fly Shop.
