Ashland girls, boys ease past Springfield

Lily Annen scored twice and Raisa Rich had a goal and an assist as Ashland rolled to its fourth straight win, 3-0, over Springfield Friday at Walter A. Phillips Field.

Annen got the Grizzlies (7-1-1, 3-0 Midwestern League) on the board in the 21st when she controlled Ginny Cotton’s long free kick in the box and turned it into a one-versus-one against the keeper, which she won.

In the 35th, Rich was on the receiving end of a through ball from Nicole Mullen and connected from point-blank range to make it 2-0.

Annen connected again in the 70th, taking a nice pass from Rich before dribbling to the edge of the penalty box and kicking the ball just inside the near post.

Springfield fell to 1-9 overall, 1-3 in the MWL.
