B.J. Allman

B.J. Allman will serenade folks for Valentine's Day at The Wild Goose Cafe.

The singer and songwriter learned to play guitar in high school, inspired by his favorite bands Green Day, Blink and Bad Religion. After a four-year stint in the U.S. Navy, Allman returned home to Ashland and started playing at The Wild Goose's weekly open mic.

Later, Allman relocated to Los Angeles, where he studied theater and continued to write and play. However, he traded in his '90s punk-rock sounds for acoustic, guitar-laden folk and blues, reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice and Jack Johnson.

Allman will present a set of his original songs and a narration of "Romeo and Juliet" at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at The Wild Goose, 2365 Highway 66, Ashland. Call 541-488-4103 or see www.bjallman.com.
