Hammericksen rebounds; speedway eyes big weekend
Hammericksen misses U.S. Women’s Amateur cut
Medford golfer Baylee Hammericksen shook off a rough opening round at the U.S. Women’s Amateur golf tournament and carded a 2-over 74 Tuesday at Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York.
The recent St. Mary’s High graduate posted birdies on hole Nos. 3, 5, 7 and 13 to highlight her second round. She finished at 16-over 160, 10 strokes off the cut.
Hammericksen’s second round also included a four bogeys and one double bogey.
Rachel Kuehn fired a 5-under 67 Tuesday to take a two-shot lead at 6-under 138.
S.O. Speedway hosts Monster Truck Nitro Tour
The Monster Truck Nitro Tour will be taking over the Southern Oregon Speedway Friday and Saturday in White City, with a limited number of advance tickets available online at southernoregonmotorsports.com.
Pits open at 6 p.m. Friday, with action starting at 7:30.
There will be two shows Saturday, with pits opening for the first show at noon for a 1:30 p.m. event and then 6 p.m. for a 7:30 show.
Fans will get a chance to see the 10,000-pound, car crushing giants compete in racing and wheelie contests, as well as freestyle action as part of the Monster Truck Nitro Tour.
